    The anchoring options that we offer in our kits were selected based on ease of use and limitations of the base materials to which we attach product (referred to as substrate).  If after reviewing the following you have questions regarding the appropriate pin for your application, please contact us for assistance.

The four basic anchoring options that are available are as follows:
1) Smart Pin Plus™ (standard mounting option)
2) Spiral Drive
3) Carriage Assembly

    SMART PIN Plus™: .312" x 2.0" Hardened Alloy Steel w/Zinc Plate and JS500 Coating
The SMART PIN Plus™ anchor is a "no load" anchoring system that is the standard for most parts (excludes handrail and FA90CC).  The characteristics of this pin make it safe for any application that can be drilled, including stone, brick, block, cement and tile.  This proprietary tamper resistant pin is secured via adhesive that is injected into the drilled hole in the substrate. With estimated shear values of approximately 6600 psi, this is the strongest pin in our offering. (Click for SMART PIN PLUS™ drawing.)		  
                   
    Spiral Drive: 0.25" x 2.5" Zinc Plated Steel
The Spiral Drive anchor is a "friction fit" anchor used primarily in poured concrete (available by special order only).  This pin is secured via the friction that is generated when the larger diameter pin is forced into a smaller diameter drilled hole (metric #6 only) in the substrate.  When used in quality, fully-cured concrete, this pin provides the extraordinary pull-out values (estimated shear = 4254 psi).  This pin is not used in substrates like granite, tile, marble, stone, brick, block, or pre-cast concrete site furnishing because the load displaced in the substrate is so great that it will likely crack the substrate during installation.     Carriage Assembly: 0.25" x 1.0", 2.0", 2.5",3.5" Zinc Plated Steel
Carriage Assemblies are the preferred mounting for wood, plastic, aluminum and fiberglass bench applications.  Mounting holes are drilled through the substrate, then bolts are secured with stainless washers, nuts, and permanent grade thread locking agent.  When ordering for wood or plastic boards, please provide board dimensions so that appropriate hardware can be supplied.  (Click for Carriage Assy drawing.)		  
                   
    Nail-In: 0.25" x 1.5" Zinc Fastener
This is the standard anchor used for the Nylon Series product line.  This is an "expansive" type fastener.  The pin contains a steel center shaft that expands the zinc sleeve when it is hammered into the pre-drilled hole.
